Can my dog come on the ferries to the Outer Hebrides?
Yes, but every pet needs a ticket added to your CalMac booking, whether you sail Ullapool to Stornoway, Uig to Tarbert or Lochmaddy, or Oban to Castlebay. Choose a pet lounge ticket to sit inside in the pet area (space is limited and can sell out) or a pet in car ticket if your dog stays in the car or out on the open decks. Dogs must be on a lead, kept off seats and out of food, drink and carpeted areas. Away from the boats, keep your dog on a lead near sheep and cattle, as livestock worrying can bring a fine of up to £40,000.
Do dogs need to be on a lead?
Many walks and estates here ask for leads, especially near livestock and ground-nesting birds from April to July. Follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and any local signs.
