Are dogs allowed on Aberdeen beach?

Yes, but not everywhere. Aberdeen City Council has a dog exclusion zone on the shore between groynes 6 and 13, in the middle of the beach, so walk your dog towards the River Don or down at Footdee. Council park rules ask for close control and a short lead at the seashore in the nesting season (April to July). At Forvie, near Newburgh, the southern ternery is closed from 1 April to 31 August and dogs should be on a short lead in the eider zone.

Do dogs need to be on a lead?

Many walks and estates here ask for leads, especially near livestock and ground-nesting birds from April to July. Follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and any local signs.
