A secure dog field is a fenced field you book for your own dogs, so they can run off the lead with nobody else in it. We list 68 fields across Scotland, with the booking link, and the fence, price and hours wherever the field states them on its own website.

How a secure dog field works
You book a slot online, usually 25 minutes to an hour, and pay in advance.
The field is yours for the slot. Only your own dogs, or friends you bring, are in it.
Most fields send a gate code by email or text before you arrive.
Many leave a gap between bookings, so dogs do not meet at the gate.
Prices usually go up with the number of dogs, often up to a maximum of 8.
Secure is not a fixed standard. Check the fence height, gates and neighbouring animals with the field before you book.
Is it the same as a dog park?
Not quite. A public dog park is usually a free fenced area that anyone can walk into, so you share it with other dogs. A secure dog field is private and booked, so it suits dogs with poor recall, nervous or reactive dogs, puppies in training and dogs that need space to run. FAQ
What is a secure dog field?
A secure dog field is an enclosed field you book for a set time, so your own dogs can run off the lead with no other dogs or people in it. Most are on farms on the edge of towns, with a gate code sent before your slot.
How much does a secure dog field cost in Scotland?
Most fields we checked charge between £5 and £12 for 30 minutes to an hour, with more for extra dogs. Each card shows the price where the field states it. Where it does not, check the booking page.
Are secure dog fields good for reactive dogs?
Many are. You book the whole field for your own dogs, and several fields leave a gap between bookings so dogs do not meet at the gate. Some have other customers in adjoining fields or livestock next door, so read the card and ask the field.
How high is the fence at a secure dog field?
It varies. The fields that state a height on their own sites give between 1.7 metres and 2 metres, or about 5.5 to 6.5 feet. Where a field does not say, the card says so. Ask the field if your dog jumps or climbs.
Can I use a secure dog field in the dark?
Some fields are open late, but few say they have lighting. Coatbridge Dog Park has lights in Field 1 only, and Argyll Active Paws offers floodlit sessions in winter by arrangement. Drumgley Dog Park says it is not lit. Check lighting with the field before you book an evening slot.
Is a secure dog field the same as a dog park?
Not quite. A public dog park is usually a free fenced area anyone can use at the same time. A secure dog field is private, you book it, and you have it to yourself for your slot.
How we check fields
We read each field's own website and only show a fence height, price or opening hours where the field states it there, with the date we checked. If something has changed, tell us on the corrections page.
