| Dogs outside | Dogs welcome from October to April, at heel or on a short lead when others are on the beach. Not on the main beach from 1 May to 30 September: beach guides and the press report a summer dog ban, so check the signs at the car park |

| Notes | Small, sheltered bay of white shell sand and clear turquoise water, a short drive from Lochinver and popular for paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming. There is a quieter second beach over the headland to the north. Highland Council owns the beach and asks that dogs stay under control on the croftland around it, where there is livestock, especially at lambing time. Bag and bin dog mess in the dog bins by the car park. Car park, toilets and a summer ranger hut. Achmelvich Beach Youth Hostel takes dogs in its private rooms; the caravan sites in the bay do not. |
